This is the only database the website uses—the database built by clients.
Name Database:
OneGreatFamily has its own database built by clients.
The site also has a surname index where you can easily see if your surname is contained in their database. As of March of 2004 OneGreatFamily had over 68 million names and over 26 million families in their database
Worldwide Focus:
OneGreatFamily's database is completely dependent on its clients. If there are clients from all parts of the world, the information would be of interest and useful to peoples of all nationalities.
Other Resources:
OneGreatFamily has a learning center with many articles to help do genealogy research, but doesn't have near as many links to other resources as some of the other websites reviewed.
Ease of Use:
Simply enter the statistics regarding the people for whom you are searching and the site will notify you if it finds any information.
Help/Support:
OneGreatFamily offers a FAQs page and an email address to submit questions—because the site is so basic, we don't think the average person will have any problems using the service
Summary:
OneGreatFamily is limited to the information that clients have submitted. This is a user-friendly site—but for about $10.00 a month more you can have access to the #1 genealogy search site on the web, Ancestry.com.
